Step Dancing at the Sanctuary
Residential Weekends
Growing out of our experience in running classes and workshops, we realise that there are few opportunities for dancers to deepen their love and understanding of Old Style Step. We believe that dedicated time focused on dance would positively enhance people’s appreciation and involvement with this dance form.
As an outcome of this thinking “Step with Annette” has teamed up with Pat Caulfield, a close friend and dancer who runs a retreat centre called “The Sanctuary” outside Corofin village in Co Clare (just 30 minutes from Shannon Airport). We plan to provide a series of tailored Old Style Step Dancing weekends to include tuition, accommodation, and all meals.
These events will be structured and tailored around the needs and abilities of you as an individual, please note that group bookings are also an option. Treat yourself to some dedicated dance time in our special retreat space and expand your repertoire of dances in the company of a like-minded enthusiasts. Classes will be strictly limited in numbers to ensure a rich learning environment, with individual attention. Drop me a line here to register your interest so we can start planning your weekend away.
As this is a residential event, tutor and musician will be on-site throughout the weekend, and available formally and informally to enhance your enjoyment and to share their experiences and love of dance with you.
All of the workshops will be led by Annette (unless otherwise advertised) with live music.
Pat’s place “The Sanctuary” was formerly a donkey Sanctuary which has now been transformed into a cosy, welcoming retreat home influenced greatly by Pat’s time spent overseas. “The Sanctuary” is set in an idyllic part of the country, on a hillside overlooking Corofin offering fine views of the surrounding area, close to the Burren and many fine walks.
Schedule:
Friday evening: arrival and opportunity to meet hosts/dance tutor, with evening meal
Saturday: 2 x 2-hour workshops (morning and afternoon), evening house session with live music and dance - to include you.
Meals: breakfast, lunch, evening meal, tea/coffee breaks
Sunday, 1 x 2-hour morning workshop
Meals: breakfast and lunch
All food will be home-made, using local produce as far as possible.
Accommodation: there are twin and double rooms with shared bathroom facilities in the main house, as well as newly-renovated studio apartments in an adjacent building, see below for photos.
Numbers for the weekend are strictly limited to a maximum of 10 dancers.
Annette will contact you in advance of the weekend discuss your dance background and expectations to help plan an event to meet your needs and ability.
Please get in touch here to express an interest in this type of event, or if you have any questions.
We look forward to hearing from you.
All the best for now, Annette & Pat
